Haunted Habits is Back!
Welcome to Haunted Habits–the newsletter of A.M. Loweecey, writer of mystery, horror, and fantasy!
I’ve rebooted my career and this Tuesday my first book in <mumble> years hits the shelves! It’s called Demons & Ramen, and it’s a dark fantasy with a lot of humor and of course good food. This is me we’re talking about.
(This recipe was a quick one: Basic chocolate cake with pudding center; homemade chocolate drizzle and fresh raspberries)
I’ll be sending these newsletters out every so often: when fun news is happening, when I have a great book to recommend, and when I have a must-share recipe or writing tip.
Before I gush about my new book, I have a recommendation: it’s The House on Black Tooth Pond by Stephen Mark Rainey. I started it on a Saturday morning and it eclipsed my weekend. I read it while cooking, while cleaning, while doing laundry until I finished it. Here’s what it’s about with handy buy links:
AIKEN MILL, VIRGINIA: A legend-haunted town in a remote, mountainous corner of the state. With its long history of countless deaths and disappearances, Aiken Mill has become known to law enforcement as “The Cold Case Capital of the World.”
Now, an unidentified, mutilated body has turned up in the town. During his investigation, Sheriff Bryce Parrott discovers frightening clues that lead him to believe some ghostly force—or entity—may be responsible for the killing.
While exploring the darkest corners of the county, psychology professor Martin Pritchett and his brother, Phillip, happen upon a crumbling, century-old house beside a body of water called Black Tooth Pond. A strange compulsion leads both men back to the house repeatedly, but neither can remember any of the events that occur there.
As Sheriff Parrott and the Pritchett brothers attempt to solve their respective mysteries, their paths begin to converge—paths that lead directly to the ancient, foreboding house at Black Tooth Pond.
